Destination:  The Gettysburg Battlefield & the Shenandoah National Park

Me and friend Dave have been yearning to make a trip over to the Gettysburg, PA battlefield location for quite some time.  I've previously made a quick visit there about ten years ago on a Honda Silver Wing 650 while in route to New Jersey and thought a more thorough tour would be required some day.  Now was the time.  We planned to make it a five day, four night ride.  Considering the mileage and things we wanted to see, we thought this would be sufficient.  I would be riding my 2001 Suzuki VL 800 Intruder Volusia and Dave would be on his 1999 Yamaha 650 V-Star, which he just got put back together after replacing his rear driveshaft assembly which decided to break down a week before our trip.  A few days, 500 plus dollars later and some sweating, he was ready to roll with a couple of days to spare.

OUR PLAN: Day 1- Leave Greenfield, OH and ride to Morgantown, WV.  Day 2- Leave Morgantown, WV and ride to Gettysburg, PA.  Day 3- Leave Gettysburg, PA and ride to Waynesboro, VA traveling thru the Shenandoah National Park's Skyline Drive.  Day 4- Leave Waynesville, VA and ride down the Blue Ridge Parkway and then over to Princeton, WV.  Day 5- Leave Princeton, WV and ride back up thru West Virginia over thru Kentucky to Maysville, KY and then on back to Greenfield, OH.  Click Here for a map of our general route of travel.
